Start with the reason for giving
A welcome gift, a thank you to a partner and a festive gift for your whole team serve different purposes. Before choosing products, write down what you want to express and when the gift will be received.
This gives you a useful way to assess each proposal. Everyday usefulness may matter most for onboarding; a gift that can be shared may suit a celebration.
Think about the recipient
Are the recipients employees, clients or event guests? Will they carry the gift home or receive it by delivery? Consider practical needs without making assumptions based on age or gender.
